Travelogue - New Mexico

We just returned from a quick 48-hour trip to New Mexico. The Santa Fe area is perfect for a weekend getaway from Denver, and February is off-season so there are great deals on hotels.

Santa Fe is a 6 hour drive from Denver, straight down I-25 - or a bit longer if you take the scenic route, via highway 285, which passes between the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges all the way across the Colorado/New Mexico border.

Highlights of the trip include:

  • Lunch at The Shed - a Santa Fe institution, located just off of the plaza in a hacienda dating back to 1692

  • Spa treatments and a delicious dinner at Ten Thousand Waves - a Japanese spa set on a hillside on the way to the ski area

  • Breakfast at Cafe Pasqual's, another local institution with organic and local food

  • Browsing the charming shops and galleries in the historic plaza and along Canyon Road

  • Green chile beer at San Luis Valley Brewing in Alamosa

Call me and we can put together the perfect weekend
